Thermoeconomic diagnosis of gas turbine plants under variable load conditions

  One of the effects produced by free electricity market and large share of renewable energy systems is that power plants are often operating under variable load conditions.In order to keep high efficiencies even in stressful operation,the use of diagnosis tools is becoming more and more attractive.In this paper,a thermoeconomic diagnosis technique is applied to the analysis of operating conditions of gas turbine plants.The approach consists in the filtration of effects due the dependence of the efficiencies of components on their operating condition.This is obtained through productive models which relate resources and products.With respect to physical models,these are generally less accurate but more compact and thus more suitable to deal with the available measurements in real plants.Different productive models are first tested through calibrated simulators.The diagnosis method is then applied to a gas turbine plant operating under variable load conditions.
