NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF A SEPARATE TYPE HEAT PIPE AND ITS APPLICATION IN THE PASSIVE COOLING OF THE NUCLEAR REACTOR SPENT FUEL POOL

  As the demand of safer nuclear power plant and the mature of heat pipe technology, application of heat pipes in nuclear engineering will become more and more important.One-dimension mathematical model of a separate type heat pipe is presented in this paper.Its flow and heat transfer characteristics are numerically simulated.The results compare well with experiments.The influences of filling ratio and heat transfer rate are also analyzed.After verifying the mathematical model of the separate type heat pipe, a long term passive cooling program uses separate type heat pipes for the cooling of nuclear reactor spent fuel pool is proposed.
