A Low Cost Elliptical Dipole Antenna Array for 60GHz Applications
A low cost 4×4 elliptical dipole antenna array etching on the double sides of a dielectric substrate working at 60GHz spectral range is presented in this paper.The feed network of the array consists of an exponentially taperd balun and linerly taperd T-junctions.For the purpose of gain improvement and structure support,a reflect plane is placed λ/4 away from the substrate and a rohacell foam is sandwiched between the substrate and the reflect plane,also additional metal strips are added to the periphery of the substrate to surpress surface wave and improve the gain slightly.Good agreement is achieved between simulations and measurements.The simulated S11 parameter shows the 16 elements antenna array has a bandwith of 57GHz to 66GHz with a maximal gain of 19dBi.
