Investigation on Active Model Test Methods Based on the Deepwater Riser Installation Process

  As the current hybrid model testings environmental load and the boundary conditions at the truncated position of active truncation method are hard to control, the concept that simulates the process of installing deepwater riser on land is proposed for the first time.The similarity theory and the boundary conditions at the truncated position are deduced.Base on the study of model test for deep water projects, an active truncation approach of hybrid model testing for the installation of deepwater risers is introduced.The results show that the test device can simulate the SCR installation process well.It also lays the foundation for future works on deepwater projects.
