Simulation of the Scour Around a Submarine Pipeline Under Uniform Flows
The main objective of the present study is to simulate the scour around a pipeline using Fluent.A scour model is incorporated into the Fluent by UDF.Both bed-load transport and suspended transport are considered. The standard k-ε turbulence model is used to solve turbulence.A sand slide model is proposed to avoid numerical protrusion. The predicted result of bed shear stress agrees well with documented results. And the results of scour simulation are compared with the experimental results in Mao(1986).At early stage, the predicted results are larger than the experiment due to the initial gap.The predicted results go closer to the results given in Mao(1986) in the later stage. The larger the shields parameter is, the faster the scour develops.
