A COMBINED META ALGORITHM FOR SOLVING A MULTI-OBJECTIVE LINE-CELL CONVERSION PROBLEM

  Line-cell conversion is a new innovation of manufacturing system developed in Japan.Its essence is converting traditional conveyor assembly line to a cell type system.There are a lot of successful cases had been reported in Japan,however the decision making of line-cell conversion is not easy because different decision should be made in different environments and they are changing in future.In this paper, we propose a simplified line-cell conversion model in which just one assembly line be converted to cell type systems.Two objectives (total throughput time and total labor power) are constructed to present system performance of line-cell conversion.Consequently in order to obtain optimal solutions of the multiobjective line-cell conversion problem, a heuristic algorithm of combining a local search into nondominated sorting genetic algorithm is presented.Several numerical simulation experiments are performed to show the utility and performance improvement of our approach.
