Equivalent Circuit Model for Two Layer Dumbbell Type Defected Ground Structures

　　A new equivalent circuit model for a two-layer dumbbell-type defected ground structure(DGS)is proposed.Many papers on defected ground structures have been published over the past ten years.However,the majority have focused on microstrip structures.In this paper,we introduce a two-layer dumbbell-type DGS,and derive an equivalent circuit model.The structure is designed for increased equivalent capacitance.To confirm the validity of the equivalent circuit model,several EM simulation and measurement results for two-layer dumbbell type DGS circuits are compared with the corresponding simulated results for the equivalent circuits.
