INFLUENCE OF TEMPERING TEMPERATURE ON THE SECOND PHASE PRECIPITATION AND PROPERTIES OF X60 PIPELINE STEEL

The paper studied the influence of tempering temperature(580℃-700℃)on the microstructures and properties of X60 pipeline steel, and focused on precipitation of the second phases containing Nb.The corresponding results revealed that the yield strength, strain hardening exponent and absorbed energy is improved, along with increasing of tempering temperature.However,HV10 decreased firstly and then increased with increase in the tempering temperature; HV10 reached its minimum at the tempering temperature of 640℃.The characterization of the microstructures showed that precipitation behavior of the second phases containing Nb should be correlated with the change in the mechanical properties. When tempering processing at higher temperatures, there were a large number of precipitates composed of Nb and Ti by microstructure examination of TEM,which could increase the strength of the steel due to precipitation strengthening.
