THE ANALYSIS OF FORCE ON PDC CUTTER

  In order to study the influences of different factors(such as cutting area,contact arc length,back dim angle and drillability of rocks)on the force of PDC bit,cutting tests on different kinds of rocks were done with PDC cutters.Conclusions can be drawn from those tests that with the same cutting area,the force on PDC cutter changes linearly and exponentially with contact arc length and abrasion height,and it shows a power-function distribution with extreme value of rock drillability; It is found that the force on PDC cutter is the minimum when back rake is about 5-10 degrees.The conceptions of radian coefficient and worn height coefficient were introduced,the general mechanical model of PDC cutter is built.Which offers theory base for the optimization of bit design and the reasonable use of bit.
