Coupling Effect of Cavity and Strut in a Dual-mode Scramjet Combustor
Experiments were performed to investigate the combustion characteristics of a scramjet engine using the swept-back strut injection upstream of the inclined cavity in clean air.The experimental results show that when the fuel equivalence ratio from strut was more than 0.75 and the fuel injected from wall was upstream, the original position of pressure rise was located upstream and the peak pressure was higher. The rise time of wall pressure of the combustor delayed than the rise time of gas generator, indicating that the ignition needed time to response, and the ignition process was complex. The Mach number of the coupling region was just about 0.47,the gas was subsonic. When the equivalence ratio from wall was larger, the combustion efficiency was lower.
