A new steady inverse method for turbomachinery aerodynamic design
A new inverse method for turbomachinery design is developed in the paper. The inputs of the method include the pressure loading and tangential thickness distribution, the stacking point position and the wrap angle there. The only difference of the inverse run with normal analysis process lies in the camber line update step.A circumferential moving velocity is calculated from the difference between the specified and calculated loading at a point on camber line, and then the point moves in the direction of the velocity with a distance computed by multiplied an inverse time step. The theory and implementation of the new method is detailed and 3 examples, including transonic and subsonic compressor cascades and a transonic turbine cascade, are presented to validate its effectiveness.
