Three-dimensional Reconstruction and Mechanical Analysis of Lumbar Vertebra Based on CT Images

The incidence rate of lumbar vertebra diseases is very high, and the diseases frequently occur in the fourth lumbar vertebra,so the research of the fourth lumbar vertebra is the focus.Based on computed tomography image(CT)data and Mimics software, this paper builds out the lumbar vertebrae geometry, and assigned materials,in order to build a complete finite element model of the fourth lumbar vertebra.Meanwhile, based on Anybody skeletal muscle system simulation software, the inverse dynamics theory1 is used to the simulation of human actions.By calling the model and setting the bending load action of the body, defining muscles and loads, the pressure and shear forces can be obtained.Through loading the forces in the lumbar vertebra finite element model, the stress and deformation can be obtained. The analysis concludes that the heavy load action will lead to excessive stress concentration and excessive deformation, and it increases the risk of suffering fractures and other diseases of the lumbar vertebra.Besides, the restoration degree of the model is high and can meet the need of finite element analysis, which is based on CT images.
