Experimental Study on Ground Effect of Multi-rotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

  Ground effect has a significant effect on the quality of multi-rotor UAV flight,especially on the stability.In this paper,a new experiment platform was used to test the stability of the quadrotor helicopter when it is in the presence or absence of ground effect.The experimental data shows that when the height of the quadrotor helicopter from the ground is less than the rotor diameter 2R,ground effect is obvious.But when the height is more than 3R,the influence of ground effect basically disappears.The presence of ground effect has an obvious influence on the stability of the aircrafts takeoff and landing process,it directly affects the flight control of the quadrotor helicopter.
