Control Process for Drilling Burr Growth of Al Alloy

  As one of processing defects in the process of drilling 2A12 aluminum alloy,burr formation around the hole edge was harmful to surface quality.For solving the burr problem,the effect of cutting parameters on the burr shapes and size was analyzed in detail.Furthermore,a new method that drilling was immediately followed by helical milling was adopted to control the burr size.By helical milling experiments,burr formation was effectively inhibited,and then the hole quality was significantly improved.Hence,the method was verified to improve formation precision in machining of aluminum alloy and other alloying metals.
