Study on Microstructure of Milled Surface of Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Composites
The microstructure of machined surfaces can reflect the machining quality. This paper aims to study the microstructure of machined surfaces and the distribution of the typical micro-fractographic appearance of the fibers. The blind-slot milling experiments on plain-woven carbon fiber reinforced composites were done.A scanning electron microscope(SEM)was used to observe the microstructure of the machined surfaces. Some conclusions were drawn. There are 7 kinds of typical micro-fractographic appearance of the fibers. The distribution of the typical micro-fractographic appearance of the fibers is influenced by the fiber layer direction ψ.In this paper, some references are provided for the research of the cutting mechanism and machining quality of the carbon fiber-reinforced composites.
