Design and Development of the First Pico-Satellite in NJUST: NJUST-1 CubeSat

  As one of the fifty CubeSats for the QB50 projectfunded via the FP7 programme of the European Commission,NJUST-1 double-unit(2U)CubeSat is the first pico-satellite that is designed and developed by the School of Mechanical Engineering in Nanjing University of Science and Technology(NJUST).All fifty QB50 satellites including NJUST-1 will be launched by Cyclone-4made by Ukraine in Brazil in April 2015.In this paper,the QB50 project and significance of our participation are briefly introduced firstly.Then,the main tasks for NJUST-1 are introduced.Afterwards the system design of the NJUST-1 2U CubeSatis presented along with an analysis of the technical difficulty and a task assignment.Then,the operational modes and model philosophy for NJUST-1 are introduced.At last,a general design scheme for the UHF/VHF ground station for QB50 project is presented.According to this scheme,a ground station has been constructed and put into use in NJUST.
