Portable Maximum Power Tracking Method of Tidal Generation System Based on Output Slope Characteristics
In this paper,an innovative Maximum Power Point Tracking(MPPT)strategy based on the slope function of hydraulic turbine output characteristic is proposed,which can intelligently adjust the rotor speed step size in tracking process.Firstly,the model of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator(PMSG)and hydraulic turbine are respectively established and analyzed.Then several kinds of traditional MPPT strategies are presented and the shortcomings are also listed.In addition,the output characteristic of hydraulic turbine is carefully researched.From the comparison of simulation results between hill-climbing method and proposed intelligent method for tidal generation system,it is verified that the proposed innovative MPPT scheme based on output slope characteristics has a better control performance than the traditional MPPT method either for tracking speed or for accuracy.According to the principle used in this innovative intelligent MPPT scheme,the proposed MPPT strategy can be easily implemented in other distributed generation system,such as PV and wind generation system.In conclusion,the proposed MPPT strategy is a simple,clipping and strong portable MPPT scheme.
