A Theory of Degrees of Freedom for Parallel Mechanisms with Spherical Bonds
In this paper,a novel degrees of freedom criterion is proposed,which is suitable for a kind of parallel mechanisms with three spherical bonds.First,the parameters of determining the moving platform are analyzed,and a new DOF criterion is proposed for parallel mechanisms with three spherical bonds.Then,the basic types of generalized limb structures are given based on the possible dimension of achieving the spherical joint attached to the moving platform and the general steps of analyzing the DOF are presented.Finally,the proposed DOF criterion is used to perform the DOF calculation and the structure synthesis through some examples.
