Novel Methods for Improving the Dynamic Performance of Planar Mechanisms
In this study,three different methods,namely; addition of a rotational adjustment system,addition of a translational adjustment system and application of a generated force,are proposed in order to improve the dynamic characteristics of a mechanism.The adjustment systems are mounted on an appropriate link of an already available mechanism.The generated force,on the other hand,is applied to an appropriate point of an appropriate link.The dynamic performance of the mechanism is improved by minimizing a performance measure while taking the physical limitations into account.The performance measure used is dependent upon the shaking force,shaking moment and actuator force/torque.In order to compare different improvement methods,a parameter that quantifies the efficiency of a dynamic improvement method,has been introduced.A four bar mechanism has been utilized as a case study and promising results have been obtained.
