Force Analysis for the Cycloid Gear Reducer Using Finite Element Method
Cycloidal gear reducers have been widely applied for motion and force transmission in precision machinery.Recently,the development of cycloid gear reducers has been focused on the high torque density design.In light of this trend,it is necessary to understand and explore the gear reducer in the force/torque aspect.This paper first reviewed the methods of force analysis for cycloid gear reducers.Then,the force analysis is performed using a finite element analysis software.Detailed simulation process using the FEM software is also addressed.The results of theoretical analysis and FEM are compared.The process shows that convergent results can be achieved by using the parameters selected in the paper.
