Study for Static and Dynamic Behavior of Axial Pre-compressed Piezoelectric Bimorph Actuator
Based on the principle of Post-Buckled Pre-compressed(PBP) piezoelectric bimorph actuator, the statics and dynamic analytical model and the torque measurement formula of PBP were deduced, also, the finite element model was established.Accordingly the experimental apparatus and platform were set up,the statics, dynamics and torque measuring experiment were made. Results showed that theory and experiment excellently correlated. As the PBP actuator was exposed to 90V and 0.05Hz sine voltage and the 20.3N axial forces, its free peak-to-peak angle was up to 10.1 °,which was more than three times of the original bimorph actuator, increasing the design space of the actuator significantly, and the first order natural frequency of PBP actuator reached 178 Hz,far more than the bandwidth of conventional electromechanical sub-scale servoactuators. The work of this paper provides theoretical basis and test methods for the development of PBP bimorph actuator prototype.
