A Framework for Identifying Maintenance Performance Metrics and Its Selection Methodology

  To achieve desired performances for an equipment system,maintenance managers require a qualified track capability during the process of operation,which can be constituted by strictly defining a performance metrics.This paper proposes an IPO&E model,which classifies the maintenance measurement into four categories and provides a rigorously-defined understanding for each indicator by highlighting each aspect for the maintenance activities.Based on the framework,a hierarchical balanced scorecard methodology,providing a link between the maintenance objectives,maintenance process/efforts and maintenance results,is as well proposed to guide the selection for right indicators.Combining with an analytical network process method,performances of a maintenance system can be quantitatively evaluated and diagnosed.A successful application of such methods in a depot-level maintenance stations for new-type equipment have verified its validity and operability.
