Research on Cross Training

  Cross training involves teaching an employee who was hired to perform one job function the skills required to perform other job functions.Many organizations are opting to implement cross training programs in order to maximize the potential of their existing workforce.The cross-training skill pattern is put forward in the paper.Some of the direct and indirect mechanisms through which cross-training can positively impact each of the strategic goals are analyzed.An industrial case is used to illustrate the important role of cross training in enterprise operation.In the end,the further research directions on cross training are put forward.
