Impact of Inward FDI in Producer Service Sector on Manufacturing Efficiency-Based on Comparative Analysis of Commercial Circulation and Info-Tech Service

Since service-sector open to outside in 2006,more and more foreign capitals are attracted to China exceeding that in manufacturing by 2007.Based on panel data of 2004-2011 in Beijing,Shanghai and Guangzhou,we compare inward foreign direct investment(FDI)in servicing, especially in commercial circulation and information technology, and empirically test effects of inward FDI in servicing on efficiency of local and foreign manufacturing enterprises from the perspective of knowledge spillovers. Results show continuous effect of efficiency and find that, manufacturing efficiency is mainly contributed by foreign enterprises that seriously attract local talents. In the field of information technology, foreign capital inflows enforce competition and foster local demand as well as possible anti-spillover of know-how and outflow of talent by,which means local market vital to improve producer efficiency.Rich technology stock attracts technical snatchers. The study found that manufacturing efficiencies depend heavily on services rather than capital inflows in manufacturing.Government should financially support the growth in servicing by preferable policy.Only when local servicing demand meets foreign servicing supply, manufacturer can absorb more know-how spillover from servicing investment. With respect to informative technology, opening outward in commercial circulation shocks local manufacturing to less extent..
