Measurement of Imported Products Quality in China
With the measurement quality ladders initiated by Khandelwals(2009),we use unit value and market share to analyze the quality of imported product from different countries according to both the enterprise database and the customs data from Chinese Customs Database on manufacturing plants within year 2002-2006,which makes matching National Standard Industry categories and Harmonized Commodity Description necessary.The data includes 7466 eight-digit HS products,6990 seven-digit HS products and 223 import countries.There are 900 products and 40 countries can calculate quality ladder.We calculate the industrial quality ladder by the weighted average of products quality ladder.Empirical study supports the quality of different goods has different quality ladder.
