Researches and Application of Controlled MHD-Flows of Liquid Metal for New Casting Processes

  It is shown that superposition of two mutually transverse alternative electric field and external magnetic field on liquid metal at fixed area of induction channel in magnetodymamic devices causes circular vortical structures on boundaries of these regions.Such vortexes are like “hard walls and allow creating in this area electromagnetic forces and electromagnetic pressure which moves liquid metal.There are studied features of electric,electromagnetic,and caused by them thermal and hydrodynamic processes in melts in metallurgical and casting magnetodynamic aggregates.Such equipments have a few(2-5)electromagnetic systems and induction channels of 2,3 or 4 branches,that form T-shaped and cross-shaped working areas.Due to this fact,it is possible to realize more controlled and various thermal & forcing action on liquid metal.It is designed experimental and industrial magnetodynamic pumps,installations,and mixers-batchers for preparation and pouring of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys.Also,there are developed concomitant technologies for manufacturing of castings and ingots,new technologies of casting under low electromagnetic pressure with dispersed non-solidifying gating system,and also processes for rheocasting and thixocasting.These developments combine MHD-processing of melts with other physical and chemical actions on melts(blowing out by inert gas,treatment by refining reagents,alloying and modifying etc.).
