Modeling Logic Gene Networks by Means of Probabilistic Dynamic P Systems
Gene Regulatory Networks (GRNs) are a useful tool for biologist to understand the interactions between genes in living organisms.A special kind of GRNs known as Logic Networks (LNs) has been recently introduced. These networks consider that the state of one or more genes can influence a third one. Therefore, genes influence each other by means of logic operations, whose arity can be greater than one.The improved LAPP method proposes an algorithm to capture the dynamics of this kind of networks. In this paper we introduce a Membrane Computing model for LNs which reproduces their dynamics according to the improved Logic Analysis of Phylogenetic Profiles (LAPP) method. We also provide a software framework based on P-Lingua and MeCoSim for modelling and simulation of LN dynamics. Moreover,we present some experimental results and use cases. Finally, conclusions and some future work are outlined.
