Numerical Study on the Cylindrical Concrete Model Using Dynamic Fracture Process Analysis (DFPA) for Axisymmetric Problem by Means of Blasting

Dynamic fracture mechanics of rock-like materials such as concrete and rock due to application of blast-load is extremely important for the cost-effective fragmentation technique. In particular, numerical simulation to analyze the 3-D complicated fracture process is useful to understand the mechanism.Cylindrical charge in the application of blasting is adopted frequently and axisymmetric condition can be applicable to this case, reducing the 3-D problem to 2-D one.In this study, a new method to conduct 3-D fracture simulation for rock-like materials based on the dynamic fracture process analysis under the axisymmetric condition is developed. The result shows that the numerically obtained fracture pattern was similar to experimental one and the ap plicability of the method to the evaluation of the fracture process on various the loading condi tions was shown.
