Blasting Design for Large Shaft in Urban Area Considering Noise and Vibration Singapore Transmission Cable Tunnel NS2
With growing demands and expanding generation capacity, Singapore is now requi ting stronger power transmission system than ever.Singapore Transmission Cable Tunnel is new underground tunnel project for transmission system to accommodate 400kV cable circuit. The North-South Transmission Cable Tunnel is approximately 18.5km long from Gambas to May Road. There is a total of three (3) contracts; NS1, NS2 and NS3 in respect of the design and construc tion.Among them SKE & C has been awarded and constructing contract NS2 (approx.5.4km).Transmission Cable Tunnel is undercrossing middle of Singapore and most of shafts are located in urban area.Housing and commercial buildings are surrounding shafts and aversion by blasting vibration and noise can be arisen during construction. Thus, optimal blasting design satisfying blasting efficiency as well as environmental restriction is highly required. Before blasting opera tion, trial blast shall be performed as specified in Drawings and blasting design will be modified based on PPV (K,α) obtained from trial blast. In construction stage we will detect any struc tures which are undetected during tender stage and modify the design to reflect them. With Singapore Transmission Cable Tunnel, it is expected that our blasting engineering and performance skills can be a tribute to the world.
