Application of Charging Machine for Cartridge Explosives
Cartridge explosives are commonly applied in Japanese tunnel blasting scene.U sually they are charged directly into the bore hole by workers hand.The workers must be ex posed to crisis that falling rocks from upper rock surface give the damage to them, because the workers come close to excavation face.To improve this undesirable situation, we have developed original mechanical explosive charge equipment.Safety and user-friendliness are just the charac teristics for our charge equipment called Safe Charger(@).Safe Charger(@) enables the worker to charge explosives easily at 2 meter away from excavation face.From the viewpoint of the safety for explosives and detonators, our equipment can be operated pneumatically by low pressure.To elucidate the influence of impact between the primer charge and the stick, the loading trial ex periments were conducted under various pressure conditions.Furthermore, the lubrication water in loading hose is adopted as the antistatic additive for an electric detonator.And from the view point of user-friendliness, its operation and maintenance are very easy because our equipment consists of several components.Our equipment was applied to the actual blasting scene; there fore, significant performance records were obtained.This paper makes mention of two examples in those records.One is the application for smooth blasting; another is the combination of our equip ment and non-electric initiation system.
