Development of the Dynamic Removal Method for Concrete Pile Head Using Charge Holder Producing Horizontal Fracture Plane

  Deterioration of concrete strength in cast-in-place piles used as the foundation of a building are caused by an impure ingredient such as slime into the upper part of the pile during pile driving work, and therefore part of the pile, about 80cm from the head, has to be removed.Such removal of the pile head is done by means of the hand breaking method using manpower, but this method entails many problems such as extremely hard work, poor working efficiency, generation of noise and vibration.In order to solve these problems, a dynamic removal method using a charge holder that pro duces horizontal fracture plane involving the use of a non-explosive demolition agent was applied to pile head test pieces of the actual size, and we had confirmed that this method can be commer cialized.The charge holder comprises a horizontal fin that effectively provides horizontal crushing force and a vertical pipe for charging the demolition agent, and is installed at a position where fracture will occur before pouring concrete.As the result of an experiment for verification, the fracture plane occurred nearly horizontally at the assumed positions, and the concrete block in the pile head portion could be separated easi ly by lifting up the portion after crushing.
