A Study for the Establishment of Criteria for Underwater Noise Management
There has been an increase in the number of civil complaints received by public offices regarding the noise and vibration caused by various civil engineering projects.Generally,the management criteria and objective reference data necessary for resolution of disputes are in place for the safety of things on the ground.However, the objective data and criteria with respect to underground noise are insufficient.In foreign countries, management criteria have been estab lished for the underground noise measurement method using hydrophone and each measurement item (peak noise level,rms,and SEL) for an environment review of the underground ecosystem,and these criteria are proposed based on the results of the studies on threshold of hearing.In contrast, in Korea, there is a lack of research data on underwater ecosystem and management cri teria based on which the extent of injury can be determined.Thus, this study was conducted with an aim to seek the right approach in setting the criteria for underwater noise management using underwater noise measurement equipment.
