Nanostructured Alumina Ceramics Made of Chemically Dispersed Aluminum Alloys
The method has been discussed of pro ducing nanopowder of aluminum hydroxide by chemical dispersion of aluminum and its alloys, which is based on their treatment by aqueous solution of sodium hydrox ide.Resulting from chemical dispersion the precipitate of aluminum hydroxide has been formed consisting of boehmite, bayerite and gibbsite, which contains ions of original aluminum alloy and sodium ions from the aque ous alkali solution. It has been shown that this precipi tate can be used to produce the sintered alumina materi al using traditional ceramic technology.Ceramic, sin tered from dispersed Al-12 wt.% Si alloy, is a compos ite material (basic phases: α-Al2O3 and NaAlSiO4 with adhesive bond type), exhibiting high porosity, strength, and heat resistance.
