Obtaining of Mesoporous Zirconia Nanopowders

  Highly crystallized ultradispersed meso porous zirconia powders were obtained using the mono ethanolamine and tetraethylammonium hydroxide to stabilize the sols.Zirconia pore size was 3-4 nm, and its specific surface area was 55-80 m2/g.The crystallite size of the powders was 6-12 nm.Impact of the zirconi um source nature on zirconia dispersibility and its phase purity was found.100% Tetragonal zirconia was ob tained using zirconyl nitrate and calcination at 500℃.Under exactly the same temperature conditions and the use of zirconyl chloride allowed to obtained 100% tetra gonal zirconia only when the molar ratio values of mo noethanolamine/Zr was equal to 0.5, or tetraethylam monium hydroxide/Zr was equal to 1.0.It was found that the phase separation and the formation of both tet ragonal and monoclinic zirconia occurred at any chan ges of these parameters of synthesis Zr-containing gel intermediate.
