A Pharmacokinetic Study of Caffeine Transdermal Therapeutic Systems
Pharmacological properties of caffeine transdermal therapeutic systems (TTS) were studied. It was demonstrated that the developed TTS matrix a chieves diffusion of the drug substance through the in tact skin, ensuring a constant drug concentration in the blood for a prolonged time period (up to 27 hours). It was shown that caffeine bioavailability increased 2.5 times in the case of transdermal administration as com pared to the conventional routes of drug administra tion. Also, the elimination half-life and the mean resi dence time during application of investigated TTS are higher in comparison with traditional drug forms.
