Copper Alkanoates Decomposition in Thermal Plasma Flow
The chemical compositions of copper acetate and copper formiate thermal decom position products were estimated by thermodynamic equilibrium calculations in the systems N2 + 0.1 Cu (HCOO)2 and N2 +0.1Cu(CH3COO)2 * H20.Ex perimental investigations of copper alkanoates disso ciation were carried out using DC plasma torch and two kinds of plasma reactor at the following opera tional parameters: plasma gas flow rates 1.8-4.3 Stm3/h, plasma jet enthaipy 0, 6-4, 8 kWh/Stm3.Flow rate of copper acetate and copper formiate was equal to 2.1 g/min.The products of copper alcano ates decomposition had Specific Surface Area (SSA) varying in the range 2.5-35 m2/g and contained carbon in the amount of 0.15-5 mass.% XRD a nalysis indicated that copper was the main product with some additives of copper oxides Cu2O and CuO.According to the SEM, most of produced nanoparticles had spherical shape and had diameters less then 100 nm.
