Preparation and Characterization of Spherical LiMn2 04 Synthesized by Solid State Method
Spherical LiMa2 04 cathode material for lithium ion battery was synthesized from Al doped chemical coprecipitated manganese oxide (CMO) and lithium carbonate by solid state meth od.To compare the difference, the flake-type LiMn2 O4 were prepared from electrolytic manganese dioxide (EMD), aluminum hydroxide and lithium carbonate.The samples were characterized by X ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and fabricated into 053048-type prismatic battery to in vestigate their physical and electrochemical proper ties.The results show that no impurities exist in the products.The powder from CMO displays good sphericity, higher tap density, and better electro chemical properties whose capacity retention is 92 % after 300 cycles at room temperature (23 ℃) and 87.5 % after 100 cycles at 60 ℃.
