Preparation of High-purity Tantalum Capacitor Powders
This paper examines the possibility of preparing high purity sodium reduced tantalum capacitor powders from oxygen containing melts.We demonstrate that such powders have a larger specific surface area when prepared using potassium heptafluorotantalate based melts containing tantalum oxyfluoride compounds.The purity and specific sur face area of powders thus prepared are suitable for the development of capacitor grade powders with a specific capacity up to 70000 CV/g.
