Characterization and Properties of Fe/SiO2 soft Magnetic Composites Production by sol-gel Method
This work investigated silica insula tion coating on the surface of Fe powder by sol-gel method from tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) pre cursor and (3-Aminopropyi) triethe-oxysilane (APTES) coupling agent The microstructures and compositions of silica insulation were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) XPS and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).The results show that compact silica layers with a thickness are successfully coated on the surface of the Fe powder.Compared with uncoated materials, the electrical resistivity of Fe/SiO2 SMCs increases remarkably which is 327.58μΩ.m and iron loss de creases significantly with operating frequency in creasing. The saturation magnetization and coercivi ty of Fe/SiO2 SMCs are 1.1T and 145A-m-1, re spectively.
