Ar + Ion Bombardment Effect on the Surface Properties of Vanadium and Vanadium-based Alloys

  Changes in the surface properties of vanadium and vanadium-based alloys irradiated by 20 keV and 40 keV Ar + ions up to doses 5.1021 m-2 and 1022 m-2 at Tirr ≈ 700K have been studied.The radiation effect consists of material surface harden ing, increasing the lattice parameter of the irradia ted samples and radiation erosion of surface layers in the form of flaking.These changes depend on the mode of implantation.
