Characteristics of LT-HVOF Sprayed Cu Coating and Application Case Study
High performance Cu coating finds its wide applications in industries for the excellent thermal and electrical conductivity.Cold spray is considered as the most successful deposition process for metallic coatings due to the very low plume tem perature and very high plume velocity, but the very short spraying distance greatly restricts the applica tion of cold sprayed Cu coating.In this paper, a no vel process, Low temperature HVOF, is developed by decreasing plume temperature and increasing plume velocity basing on the conventional HVOF, and microstructure and coating properties for LT HVOF Cu coating were investigated by comparing with those of conventional HVOF coating.Finally LT-HVOF Cu coating is successfully applied to ring pump of EAST fusion reactor as warm shield due to the excellent thermal conductivity.
