Study on Copper Foam Fabricated by SDP
Pure copper power and inorganic salt were chosen as raw materials.Different porosi ties and different pore sizes copper foam specimens were fabricated by sintering and dissolution process (SDP).The porosity ranges from 77 % to 91%, pore size is range of 0.4 ~3.3mm.The effect of sin tering temperature and pore former on its relative density and porosity was studied.Macro and micro pore morphology and its component were analyzed by SEM and EDS pattern.The compressive strength was measured with a universal testing machine.The compressive strengths of copper foam change from 8Mpa to 1.5Mpa with porosity increase.The results indicated that porosity is the primary influence fac tor of compressive strength.Under the same porosi ty condition, the compressive strength does not change significantly with the pore size, but it has a slightly increasing trend with the decrease of the pore size.
