Refining of pure Aluminum by Sloping Plate and the Effects of Process Parameters on Melt Treatment Time
Melt treatment by sloping plate is a kind of high-efficient process for semisolid slurry preparation and grain refining.The inner grain of pure aluminum is remarkably refined by the sloping plate.Since melt treatment time has an obvious in fluence on grain size, a mathematic model of melt treatment time during sloping plate process was es tablished, and the effects of process parameters on melt treatment time were analyzed.The results show that the initial velocity depended on pouring height, melt treatment time decreases with the increment of the initial flow velocity.The melt treatment time de creases with the increase of incline angle.If the in dine angle of the sloping plate varies in the range of 0° ~30°, the melt treatment time changes sharply with the variation of incline angle.But when it va ries in the range of 30° ~ 90°, the effect of the in cline angle on the melt treatment time is not obvi ous.Melt treatment time increases with the incre ment of the plate length with a parabolic pattern.
