University StudentsPedagogical Preferences in China-an Empirical Study Based on Questionnaire Survey

  This study attempts to gain a better understanding of the status quo of pedagogy in Chinas universities through questionnaire survey and analyzing empirically the affecting factors of Chinas college students attitudes towards different teaching methods with an ordered probit model.It is found that classroom teaching based on multimedia courseware is still the most frequently used pedagogy in Chinas higher education.Students are not very satisfied with the current pedagogy, demonstrating the urgency of pedagogical reform in China.The regression results with ordered probit model reveal that students individual features, family backgrounds, level of university and professional backgrounds would wield significant impact on their pedagogical preferences.Their demands should be respected in the pedagogical reform to improve the quality of teaching and the students creative ability in China.
