Vibration Measurement and Analysis for Buildings in a Certain Residential District
Nowdays, buildings which were built in the 1970s to 1990s exist extensively in old resi dential districts.These buildings with brick-concrete structure, whose floor is generally 6-7 layers, are multi-story residences.Recently, vibration phenomenon that occurs on multi-storey residential buildings with brick-concrete structure is increasing, which has affected general usage of these buildings.In view of vibration phenomenon on buildings in Niujiaowan residential district, empiri cal formulas are used to estimate low order natural frequency of buildings in this district.It could be summarized that the first and second order natural frequencies of all the eight buildings in the dis trict are within the range from 2.4 H-z to 4.0 Hz.Vibration measurement is conduct on the site with 14 measurement points divided into 3 groups.Through the spectral analysis, two main vibration fre quencies can be seen normally in the district, one ranging from 10 Hz to 13 Hz and the other from 1.5 Hz to 3.5 Hz.The vibration which frequency ranges from 1.5 Hz to 3.5 Hz is caused by heavy vehicle traffic or braking and starting of vehicles at bus station.This kind of vibration with lower frequency is close to the low order naturalfrequency of the buildings in the district.It could be con eluded that the vibration which frequency ranges from 1.5 Hz to 3.5 Hz is the main reason causing the vibration of buildings in the district.And it can be a basis for the subsequent vibration reduc tion design of the district.
