Study on the Vibration Caused by Subway Train and Its Effect on Existing Masonry Building

Based on two masonry structures, a situ experiment was carried out to study the subway -induced vibration in Shanghai from two aspects of the vibration level and frequency.Preliminary conclusion both on the ground and in two masonry buildings were: peak value of ground vibrations attenuate with distance. The main frequencies of train-induced vibrations are 40-80 Hz, while those of road traffic-induced vibrations are 10-25 Hz.For the two five-story buildings, Vibrations of the floors increase by height. The vibration acceleration level in the vertical direction of the top floor is 2-4 dB larger than that of the ground floor and when it comes to the horizontal direction, the vibration acceleration level of the top floor is 6-7 dB larger than that of the ground floor; The vibration at floor center is greater than that at corners of the walls and the staircase. The subway-in duced vibration does not exceed the regulations in relevant criterion in this situ experiment, but the influence on the resident cant be ignored.
