Dynamic Response of Vehicle-Bridge System Considering Soil-Structure Interaction

This paper explores dynamic soil-bridge interaction in high-speed railway lines. The a nalysis was conducted using a general and fully three-dimensional multi-body finite element model formulated in the time domain to predict vibrations caused by trains passing over the 32m standard simply supported Girder Bridge. The vehicle was modeled as a multi-body system, the track and the bridge were modeled using finite elements and the soil was considered as a half-space with vicious spring artificial boundary conditions. The dynamic responses of bridge superstructure of vehicle bridge-pier-pile-soil (VBPPS) system were compared with that of vehicle-bridge (VB) system and vehicle-bridge-pier (VBP) system. The effects of various parameters, including train speed, track irregularity, pier height and SSI, on the dynamic response of bridge was discussed. The results show that: (i) the effects of stiffness of pier and foundation on the horizontal dynamic character of bridge are more obvious than vertical dynamic character.Compared with V-B system, the horizontal fundamental nature frequency of VBPPS system is reduced by 85.7% ; (ii) the mid-span dynamic response of VBPPS system is largest than other two systems, compared with vertical dynamic re spense, the amplitude of horizontal dynamic response increased more significantly; (iii) the mid span dynamic response of beam doesnt increase linearly with vehicle speed, track irregularity, the height of pier and length of pile.
