Application of the Ballastless Track Vibration Damping System to Vibration Reduction of High-Speed Railway Tunnel

An adequate vibration solution with the ballastless track vibration damping system is pro vided to high-speed railway tunnel in soft subsoil foundation. In order to study the vibration reduc tion characteristics of the damping ballastless track, indoor drop-hammer tests are performed before and after fatigue, which show that this vibration damping system can provide a reliable vibration re duction in a long term.Furthermore, in-situ train-induced vibration measurements, velocity level obtained from Shiziyang tunnel for the train speed range from 200 to 310 kin/h, are also performed in Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hongkong high-speed railway.During the measurements, the derailment coefficient, the wheel load reducing rate and magnitudes of vertical vibration acceleration of all measuring points are obtained when EMU units trains run across. The effect of vibration reduction and isolation is analyzed in two ways, which are time histo~ analysis of vibration acceleration and 1/3 octave vibration level analysis. The test results show that the slab ballastless track vibration damping system can effectively reduce the effect of vibration caused by EMU units train, especially in the frequency scope below 20 Hz and above 40 Hz.This application is successfully adapted to practice without threatening the safety of EMU units train including excessive derailment coefficient, wheel load reducing , and vertical acceleration.
