Optimization of hydraulic retention time for MBR treating antibiotic wastewater
This study optimized hydraulic retention time (HRT) of membrane bioreactor (MBR) treating antibiotic wastewater because it is one of key factors affecting performance, capital and operational costs of MBR.When HRT of MBR was decreased from 72h to 36h, not only removal rates of COD and NH4+-N were stable at 60%~69% and 95%, but also the TMP of the MBR was stable around-5.0 kpa at the set membrane flux of 6.5L·m-2·h-1.Considering major pollutants removals and membrane fouling, the HRT of MBR treating antibiotic wastewater was optimized at 36h.Both COD and NH4+-N concentrations in effluent from the MBR at HRT of 36 h were 280-±17.32 mg.L-1 and 11.29±0.85 mg.L-1, much less than those from the antibiotic wastewater treatment station with the conventional activated sludge (CAS) process.
