Titanium dioxide-loaded granule active carbon for phenol electro-oxidation using three-dimensional electrodes reactor
Titanium dioxide-loaded granule active carbon was prepared bv sol-gel process. After this scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were employed to evaluate its morphology and electrochemical properties. The mechanism of TiO2-GAC in the improvement phenol electrooxidation was translated in the increase of surface contact resisitance, decrease of adsorption and contribution to actived eletron. Also a comparative study between granule active carbon (GAC) and titanium dioxide-loaded granule active carbon (TiO2-GAC) was conducted in a packed-bed electrode reactor. Our experimental results showed that their COD removal efficiency under current density 30A·m-2,30mg·L-1 Na2SO4 and phenol concentration 600mg·L-1 in 240mins were 81.4% and 73.8% respectively.Cyclic voltammograms proved that TiO2 loaded GAC had a higher voltammetric charge 6,69mc.cm-2 than ungroomed GAC 6.07 mc·cm-2.TiO2 loaded GAC has a better property as electrochemical filling than GAC.
